Today is a very special day for me. Not only its my birthday but also a very special year where we are all greeted with the arrival of Baby Arianne, a new member to our ever growing foo's family. I had been thinking all week what to do to kickstart this special day and you will see in a while what i had came up with.

The video was shot live by my wife in our bathroom with no editing. Its a raw cut and dont even try to guess, i m not in total nude except for Baby Arianne who is. I had tried to convince my son, Brandon earlier to join us but he was too shy to participate.

You will findout later in the clip that we both have so much fun dipping and I must say Arianne had most of the fun as it must had reminded her the environment she had for 9 months in her mom's womb. She was so relax in the water and practically floating most of the time, thats why experts say babies are natural swimmers.

It will be a day that we both will remember for life and best of all its captured on video. Also check out the skin contrast between Arianne and myself, i didnt realise that i m even fairer than her.

Arianne 1st Day Out

Today is Arianne's first day out since returning home from the hospital. I know i m not supposed to take her out as she is still within the 1 month confinement period but Fionne is getting rather bored and want to go out for a walk.

I m not too sure whether Arianne had a good time as she was practically crying most of the time. I m not sure whether she wants milk and she is not used to the new environment at the Grand Gateway Mall in Xu Jia Hui. We stayed on for another half and hour and left for home.

I must say that the biggest joy was holding Arianne and feeling close to her. I guess this is what parenthood is all about and i m getting another shot at it again and hope to do much better this time.

Day 8 : Fionne's Mom (Grandma) and Arianne

My mom in law arrived yesterday evening bringing in 2 full bags of products from malaysia for both Fionne and Arianne. It almost weighed about 40 kg and its amazing that she carried it all the way from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai via Hangzhou by herself.

She will be staying with us for 1 month providing Fionne and Arianne the love and care they so needed thus relieving me to go back to work and get up to speed again.

Day 5 : Checking Out

It felt like yesterday when we 1st checked into the hospital and today we will be checking out after Arianne takes her bath. Arianne came into the hospital dependent on her mom and when she leaves the hospital today, she will be on her own, completely independent and have her own unique identity too (her full name is Arianne Foo Xin Qing). Guess we had once again fulfilled out duty as human and parents to procreate but the challenges wont be stopping here as this is only the beginning.

The future ahead for us and Arianne lies unknown but I m sure its going to be an interesting and exciting one with lots of ups and downs. Its going to be a lifetime experience to see her grow up like my son, Brandon and daughter, Luvelle. They make a better person of us and give us more reason to persevere and work harder to have a happy and meaningful life. There is meaning in our life when there is happiness at home, this is exactly what Robert Foo, my dad had always told me and I m certain Arianne will bring the extra joy and meaning to our lives.

As for my wife, Fionne will have to go through next phase of agony, the 1st being conceiving and delivering Arianne. If she thought that was the most painful phase, she is in for a surprise, lets not tell her too much and be fair to her for she has been great and wonderful in bringing Arianne into this world. Beside Arianne who is the main cast, Fionne deserves much credit for her supporting role without which Arianne won't be with us today and of course i take some credit too for playing the so called "30 minutes Superman" role and bringing you this live coverage here.

By the way, this is not the end of the blog as I had mentioned before, its only the beginning. Please keep coming back for more updates on Arianne.

Arianne is on breast milk but due to the time needed for the milk to be developed, the nurse will feed her as and when Arianne needs it. She is on a regular dose of breast milk almost once every 2 hours. Fionne is finding it tough to manage initially as it can get very painful. Her nipple cracked and became very sore. Its never easy to conceive and deliver a baby and in fact the nightmare hasnt ended as its only the beginning. We both have been having sleepless night in Shanghai having to baby sit Arianne. We are still ok as we have good nurses to assist but when saturday comes, we are on our own.

The nurse came rather early today to take Arianne to the baby shower room where she was cleaned and given new clothings. I was enjoying myself watching her experiencing bathing for the 2nd time. Dont think she knows what was going on but one thing for sure she wasnt really enjoying it as she cried most of the time.

Day 2 : Brandon and Arianne

Brandon and our maid came to visit us last night. It was a very special occasion as my son, Brandon is meeting her baby sister face to face for the 1st time and i m sure Arianne is eager to meet her brother too. Check out for Brandon cuddling to Arianne below. They both look so adorable.

Fionne's condition has improved alot yesterday as she was able to get up and walk a little. She started consuming barley water and had bananas too. She has yet to really start eating solid food as she was told not to eat anything solid until thursday.

Arianne just had her 1st bath. Must had been a new experience for her not knowing what to expect and not knowing why she is being cleaned. I dont think she had enjoyed it but i m sure she will gradually learn to enjoy it.

This clip was taken just before the nurses pushed my wife into the Operation theater. Fionne was rather calm and totally happy about the whole ordeal she would need to go through. I was ready but frankly i was worried with tons of things going through my head mostly due to the risks and uncertainties. Seeing fionne somehow bring some calmness and the operation went smoothly. The relief came when the doctor told me that both fionne and baby arianne are ready to be pushed back out.

Arianne was borned at about 10am 16 Sept weighing over 6 pounds. The whole delivery was very smooth and Fionne was awake most of the time with me beside her. Here are some of the pictures which were taken immediately after the delivery. She is so cute and most of the nurses think she looks more like me. Its definitely too early to tell but i think she has the best of both parents. I will be following up with the videos in a later blog.

Day 1 : Checking into the Hospital

We got up at 545 am this morning. Its a cooling morning. Waited for our maid to come before we left for the hospital as we needed her to be around to take care of brandon and sending him to school later. Its just coincidental that Debbie had to leave for business trip this morning too otherwise Brandon will be in the good hands of his mom.

Brandon is eagerly waiting for the arrival of her sister too and i can see his excitement painted all over his face though he rarely will admit it. I told him that i will keep him informed later via SMS and will call him when he is back home from school later.

We arrived at the hospital at 7am sharp and had already checked into our VIP's Bedroom no 16. The nurses are still in the midst of getting her ready for the operation at the time of blogging. So far the service from the hospital has been good and I must say we are really given VIP treatment, probably that explains why we are also paying so much.

The Celebration Begins

We had just finished our dinner and fionne had packed everything for her journey to become a mommy tomorrow. She is very excited at the same time full of anxieties not knowing what to expect. We all went out and had a big feast this morning as fionne will start fasting from 8pm onwards (no water and food). In fact the celebration had already started, here are some of the shots just taken a while ago.

We will be heading to sleep soon having to get up at 6am as we need to be at the hospital by 7am to get Fionne ready all charged up for the C section. I m pretty amazed with how my wife is handling it as she has little fear of the operation as if she is going there for a vacation to pick up our princess.

The thought of going into the Operation theater can be quite a challenge for me and i m still gathering all the courage I need to stand sober beside my wife tomorrow. Wish me luck and I will be updating regularly from the hospital tomorrow.

The Countdown

This blog is specially created for our Princess Arianne who will be due this Tuesday (16/9/2008) via C section. I will be providing a complete countdown all the way her arrival tomorrow morning scheduled at 9am. Unfortunately i wont be able to provide the live coverage during the C section but I will be standing beside Fionne providing her the moral support and of course on standby to receive my princess.

Here are some shots and a video of Arianne's mom taken last night. We were on our way out to Simon Ma's Mansion to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival celebration. Fionne's tummy has grown alot for the past 2 weeks as you can see from the pictures below. Arianne is certainly growing fast and all ready to come out tomorrow.
